为什么人们害怕改变?
Are you in the comfort seat and not willing to get out of there like most people?
你是否像大多数人一样,坐在舒适的位置上,不愿意离开?
Historically people in general have been always afraid of change. They do not like doing things that they are not familiar with or used to, even when these things may improve their status, environment, their knowledge or comfort.
从历史上看,人总是害怕改变。他们不喜欢做与平常不一样的、不熟悉的事情。即使这些事情可以提升他们目前的状况、环境、知识以及舒适度。
Last week during a normal day at the office a couple of things happened to me that I was not able to comprehend well. I experience something that I have never seen before at least in USA and very seldom in Mexico.
上星期平常的一天,在我们公司发生了一件我不太理解的事。起码在美国我从没有经历过,在墨西哥也很少发生。
I have been always the kind of person that believes in training and empowering the employees to become better and more professionally prepared. I told our design department that I was going to hire a teacher to train them on a new design software. This software, I told them is extremely helpful to visualize spaces on an easier way and help take decisions faster and better.
我一直很善意地相信,培训以及加强员工的能力让他们变得更好,更专业。我告诉设计部门的员工,我打算聘请老师教他们一个新的设计软件,我告诉他们这款新软件,可以用更简单的方法形成可视化空间,极大的帮助他们更快、更好地工作。
What was surprising for me to hear was that after I announced this to them and brought the teacher to give them a quick explanation of the software, the following day they were talking among themselves asking one another why would “The Boss” train us on this software? Is it because he wants to give us more work? Then they became somewhat hesitant or uninterested in learning something new.
令我意外的是,当我宣布这件事,并且把老师带来给他们快速解释这个软件后,第二天他们相互讨论起来:“为什么老板要让我们培训这个软件?难道他想给我们更多的工作吗?”导致他们不那么情愿也提不起兴趣学新的东西。
More knowledge, more work! That is many times the mind set of many people.
能力越大,工作越多!这是很多人的固定思维。
They do not want to learn more because they are afraid that this new knowledge may bring more problems, or work or challenges. The people do not want to become supervisors or managers because they are afraid of the potential new responsibilities, the potential additional work, managing people and feel that it is EASIER and a lot less stressful to just keep doing the same.
他们不想学习更多因为他们害怕新知识带给他们新问题、工作以及挑战。人们不想成为管理者或者经理是因为他们害怕承担新责任和额外的工作,担心员工管理,他们认为做原来的事情更加容易,承担较小的压力。
I just could not believe what I was hearing! Why does this happen? Why people do not want to change? Get challenged? Acquire new responsibilities? Learn New Things?
我简直不敢相信我所听见的!为什么会发生这种事情?为什么人们不愿意改变?接受挑战?承担新责任?学新东西?
I just don’t get it!
我不能理解!
Another interesting example is the one regarding “ENGLISH LESSONS”. At our company only about 50% of the people is capable of establishing a good or decent conversation in English. So I offered our team members of the company free English lessons with a professional teacher. And one interesting thing happened: ONLY LADIES REGISTERED FOR THE CLASS! Why no Gentleman? Are the ladies more eager to learn than man? Are men in China more willing to stay in their comfort zone than women?
另一个有趣的事情是关于“英语课程”。在我们公司只有约50%的人能够用良好的或合适的英语进行对话。所以我为公司员工免费聘请专业的老师上英语课。有趣的事情发生了,参加这个课程的只有女生!为什么没有男生?难道女生比男生更渴望学习?难道中国的男生比女生更愿意坐在舒适的位置上?
All I can say is that the only thing that is constant in this world is change. So get used to it! You must get out of your comfort zone and try new things, try to learn new stuff, do things different, or otherwise you will be destined to live with a boring mediocre job in that comfort seat.
我能说的是,在这个世界上唯一不变的就是改变。所以要去适应它!你必须离开你舒适的位置,尝试新事物,尝试学习新的东西,做不同的事情。否则,你将注定生活在舒适的位置上干着无聊的、平庸的工作。
