How cool is that? I am writing this week`s article and emailing it now from the airplane that is taking me to America right at this moment. It is incredible how technology has changed everything.

Anyway, now back to business: The next couple of months will be very stressful and tense for a whole lot of different companies that are doing ceramic exports and business with Mexico.

To some of them it could be a life or death situation, so I honestly wouldn`t like to be in their position. I also don`t think that anybody saw this coming. Why did it happen when everything was going so smoothly? I wish I had good answers for all of you, but honestly I don`t have them at this time.

Our company is one of the top two importers of ceramic tile goods from China to Mexico, amazingly importing last year close to 5,000 containers in 2014. Yes, you read that right, five thousand containers in case you misread the number of zeros.

This dumping case makes me kind up upset,mad, stressful and nostalgic. So many different feelings at the same time, because I started it all; moving containers from China to Mexico back in 2004 when we imported our first soluble salt polished 60x60 containers. That year, if my memory does not fail me, we imported no more than 100 containers of this single style, size and color for the whole year. Back then we were paying 5.00 USD per square meter. Also, back then Spain dominated exports to Mexico with 80% market share in this category.

Things changed pretty rapidly and three or four years later China polished porcelain goods were dominating the imports to Mexico and from a very low 5% market share in less than 8 years took the place of Spain and now have the 80% market share that they had.

Our company was the leading force importing tile from China, that eventually and not knowing at that time led me to move to this great country in 2006 and grew our business to unimaginable size in less than 10 years. From zero to 5,000 containers a year, from zero to almost 100 stores in China, from zero to exporting from China to more than 30 countries with our brand name, and then this......what can I say? Now I guess you understand my feelings!

I hope that this whole dumping case ends up in a good resolution. I also know that regardless of whatever happens we will keep moving on and finding creative ways to do business in China, from China or to China, because the business will not be destroyed or finished by those who made unfair business practices, or by those who are jealous when something was done right and is working well. It is usually destroyed by those who just sit, watch and do nothing about it, and we just simply will not let that happen!
我希望这整个倾销案件能够得到很好的解决。我同样也知道,不管发生什么,我们都会继续保持前行,找到创造性的方法继续中国的业务,无论是从中国采购还是在进口到中国的业务,因为业务不会因为那些不公交易和对成功业务的嫉妒所摧毁和终结。通常那些坐在看,什么事情也不干的人会来破坏这些,而我们不会让这些发生的!
