I was thinking a few minutes ago about an interesting topic to write on this week’s article.
In the last few days I have been attending meetings and getting feedback about important meetings and conferences we are going to have and attend as a Company.
I couldn’t stop in these days thinking about the things I would like to say & share about how hard it has been to get to where we are now as a company.
I remember very well when we started the company ICC in China everybody thought that it would be very easy and that we would have success very fast, that by this time after two and a half years we would have 100 stores!
That success was pretty much guaranteed just because we were part of to industry giants.
I heard all these stories when I was still working in the USA for Interceramic and ICC was just starting.
Just a few months later after ICC was formed I got a call from Interceramic President and board members. They needed my help in China. I had some experience dealing, working and living in this market, and I couldn’t resist the challenge of moving back again to China to change and improve ICC that had a difficult start.
I moved in May 2011 and in the almost two years that I have been here we have been through a lot of changes and it has been a lot more difficult and challenging that I ever thought.
We pretty much had to reinvent our company from zero and in all these time of almost 24 months we have had our own share of success but as well we have failed a few times.
Some of the most important things I have learned in this time are:
Never stop trying, never give up, always try your best, think outside the box, always take decisions to resolve issues before they become problems, take calculated risks, delegate responsibilities, create a better working environment, challenge your employees and let them be part of the decision making and strategy process, never stop learning, have an open mind.
I appreciate more any success we have just because I know well how difficult it has been to get it and how many times we have tried and failed.
We all are going to fail at times I can assure you it is going to happen, and it does not matter, what matters is to learn from your mistakes and never stop trying!
