创造最好的工作环境 BUILD THE BEST PLACE TO WORK AT
当我早上迈入公司的时候,我可以感觉到空气中的兴奋就像电流一样围绕着我。我看到员工去他们的同事那里寻求如何制作最好的PPT、图册、微信或者画面的建议;看到人们对于他们正在制作、开发、生产的事物上怀着很多的自豪感和主人翁精神; 我看到来自不同团队的成员在会议室中充满激情地交谈,当他们提出自己从无到有构思的新方案的时候,他们眼中闪耀着光芒。在餐厅,人们休息的时候,泡杯绿茶给他们的同事的一句温言。我没有把这些文化传递给我的员工,这是每一天我们所有人都在打造的东西,通过协作,创新,在工作中体现出来。
强大的工作文化由一群在道德观、价值观、诚信、积极的态度,以及在逆境中的抗压性等方面保持一致的人所组成,尤其是现在我们正在经历我们行业最困难的时期。拥有强大的工作文化的公司在很大方面比那些没有这样文化的企业有着更好的收益,因为他们的员工更加快乐,更加投入。创造一种企业文化不是一蹴而就的,也不是可以从领导传递给员工的。一个充满活力与积极向上的文化是一个公司所有的利益相关者的合力。
我来到公司,想着我希望为我们公司贡献和创造的那种文化。一些你可以贡献去创造一种有意义的企业文化的方式是简单的,比如:好的沟通,清楚的沟通。在工作中,最大的压力源是来自主管的不清晰的期望。在同事之间或者不同部门之间的信息混乱或冲突制造了最多的压力。沟通的问题会导致更低的生产力,因为人们不知道他们所被期待的以及工作优先重点。而这些都是可以通过清晰而自觉的沟通得到解决的问题。当你和一个同事沟通的时候,确保你沟通的目标与期望是精准能够被领会的,并且是礼貌的。
另外,真正的合作,很多员工声称他们觉得和他们的同事是分离的。非常重要的是及时地和你的老板及同事的协作。如果你要在走到某些人的办公桌前问一个问题与给他们发一份邮件中间做选择,你应该考虑面对面和他们交谈。会议也是另外的建立真正联系的场所,会议会带来更加有创意和富有生产力的体验。
一些你需要去考虑的其它事情是尊重你同事的想法,对于新的想法的渴求应该被植入到公司文化中。尊重是在工作场所中塑造一种勇气文化的基础。员工们在工作场中感受到受尊重将会在他们工作中以更高的愉悦感和满意度体现出来,随之带来体验更高层次的参与感。当我的团队的一个成员有一个点子,我永远会倾听,甚至就算这个想法很长时间在公司都用不上,头脑风暴本身所带来的就是富有成效的,能够打造激动人心的创新点子,能够提升团队的目标感和信任感。不要下意识地抵触新的想法,要拥抱他们!帮助你的同事达到他们的目标,让团队成员拥有主人翁感和独立性去分享并且发展他们的想法,这会在整个工作场所培养创新和信心。
生而为人,我们人生的很重要一部分就是寻求更好的自己,这个伟大的追求也包含了对他人的友好与开放。如果我们带着这样的想法进入工作,一种积极的文化将会像野花一样自然地生长。文化是通过公司的每一个员工每一天的微小而有意义的行为共同创造的。无论你是一个经理还是一个团队成员,我们都处在一个可以影响并且提升工作环境的位置。在决定你们公司要培养什么样的企业文化上,你的角色很重要。一个鼓励创新,差异化,包容性以及同理心的文化将会提供一种培养、保留并且吸引人才的工作环境。人们感觉受到欢迎,能够自由地释放他们的创造力,无所畏惧地表达观点,这些是如此重要。这种富有同理心的思维模式将会建立一种滋润的工作环境,在这里每一个员工都能够茁壮成长。
When I walk into work in the morning, I can feel the excitement in the air around me like an electric current, I see workers going to their colleagues for advice on how to make the best presentation, catalog, WeChat post or graphic. People take a lot of pride and ownership in what they are making, developing, manufacturing. In the conference room, I can see members of different teams talking passionately in a meeting, their eyes shining as they present the initiatives they built from scratch. At the canteen, people take breaks to brew green tea and offer their coworkers a kind word. I didn't hand this culture down to my employees, it's something we all work at everyday by being collaborative, creative, and driven at work.
A strong work culture is comprised of a group of workers aligned on ethics, values, honesty, positive attitudes, and resilience through adversity, especially now that we are living one of the most difficult times in the history of our industry. Companies with strong work cultures make more in revenue than those that don't in large part because employees are happier and more engaged. Building a company culture is not something that happens overnight, nor is it something that is passed down from leaders to workers. A dynamic and positive culture is a collective effort from every stakeholder within a company.
I come into work mindful of the specific kind of culture I want to contribute and create at our company. Some of the ways you can contribute to creating a meaningful company culture are simple, like: Good Communication.
Communicate Clearly. The biggest stressor at work is unclear expectations from supervisors. Confusion or conflict between coworkers and departments created the most stress. Communication issues lead to lower productivity because people are unclear of their expectations or priorities. These are issues that could be solved by communicating clearly and consciously. When you are communicating to a colleague, make sure the purpose and expectations of your communication are concise, empathic, and polite.
Also, Authentic Collaboration, many employees claim they feel disconnected from their colleagues. It's important to collaborate in real time with your boss and colleagues. If you have the decision between walking to someone's desk and asking a question versus sending an email, consider speaking to them face-to-face. Meetings are another place to build authentic connections, the meeting will make the experience more creative and productive.
Some other things you need to consider is respecting your colleague's Ideas. There should be an eagerness for new, fresh ideas built into a company's culture. Respect is an essential part of cultivating a culture of courage in the workplace. Workers that feel respected in the workplace report greater enjoyment and satisfaction in their jobs, while experiencing higher levels of engagement. When a member of my team has an idea, I always listen, and even if that idea doesn't work out for the company in the long run, the brainstorming session it provokes is always fruitful, making exciting and innovative ideas that elevates the team's sense of purpose and trust. Instead of automatically resisting new ideas, embrace them! Help your coworkers achieve their goals. Allowing team members, the ownership and independence to share and develop their ideas will foster innovation and confidence throughout the workplace.
As humans, a great part of our journey is the pursuit to better ourselves, and a part of that grand pursuit is being kind and open to others. If we go into work with that mindset, a positive culture will grow naturally like wildflowers. Culture is created by every employee at a company through small meaningful acts every day. We are all in a position to influence and improve the workplace, whether you are a manager or a team member. You have a great role in determining the kind of culture your company fosters. A culture that encourages creativity, diversity, inclusivity, and compassion will provide a work environment that builds, retains, and attracts talent. It is so important that people feel welcome and free to unleash their creativity and offer perspectives without fear. This compassionate mindset will build a nurturing work environment where every employee is enabled to thrive!
